Regensburg

We spent the morning cruising down the Danube.

We got ashore in Regensburg for a walking tour of another well preserved medieval town.

Parts of buildings were left uncovered to show the original stone.

This twelfth century stone bridge is Germany's oldest.

Beautiful town and beautiful river.

Well preserved houses.

The spires of St Peter's Cathedral behind the town hall.

How about this window.

...and this one!

One of the town gates.

This one is not typical.

The grey building is a a famous and very expensive hotel.

Entry way to a small drinking establishment.

To show wealth you build your house as tall as possible.   The top floors were not used and didn't even have stairs.

This is the location where Oskar Schindler lived and where he spent all of his fortune to save as many Jews as he could.  He lost his home and died a poor man.

A quick peek inside a church and duck out before I had to pay.  The gold alter had Jesus and the disciples at the last supper.  The pieces can be moved and are taken in and out of the arrangement depending upon the time of year.

Betty and the coo-coo clocks.

On the way back to the boat we went to this shop for a a show about how they were made, the different types and how they worked.

In the evening some local performers came on board to sing an opera concert for us.

Tomorrow we arrive in Passau.
