Budapest July 16

Today is our first full day in Budapest.  We decided to have a restful day for a change starting with a visit to a spa.  The River Danube passes through Budapest dividing Buda from Pest.

Our hotel is on the Pest side but this view is looking over toward the Pest side as we walk to the spa.
You can see a building in the shape of a whale breaching.

I liked these statues of four women outside what seemed to be a museum.

This is the Hotel Gellert.  The spa we are going to is the Gellert Spa which is behind it in the hills.  There are many thermal spas here fed by the many thermal springs of the city.  The water is considered to be medicinal and each spa has its own menu of treatments.

Betty and I had a long aromatherapy massage first and then spent over 2 hours in the pools. The hottest was 38 degrees C.

I have no pictures from inside as we locked our stuff up right away and had our hands full trying not to get lost in all the hallways and stairways to the various areas.

We both came out ready to go back to the room for a nap.

Afterwards on the walk home we saw these growing on trees.

Like this.

Across from the spa was this Polish church built inside a cave.

A statue in front of the church with a view of the Pest side behind.

The front of the church.

Some shots inside.

There are many bridges across the river.  We crossed on this one.  Showing the crest of the city on the top.

Walking through a large indoor market on the way to the hotel.

We stopped for a bowl of Goulash on the way home and it was good but not quite as good as what we had on the ship.

Interesting plant growing on the side of a building.

A very beautiful church.

So we are back at the room and going to have a relaxing evening.  Maybe I will get the missing blog posts dealt with now.
