We left the boat at 10:00 AM this morning to go to the hotel Thomas in Budapest. After settling in we were picked up for our tour of the Parliament in the afternoon.
The tour started with this statue of the President who was in power when Buda, Old Buda and Pest joined to form one city in 1873.
A view of the Parliament building from across the river.
Inside is quite impressive.
The chamber of the upper house.. Now they have only one house which meets in an identical room.
Another view of the room.
This unique object is a cigar holder with an ashtray behind it. Each slot is numbered and allows them to leave their cigars out in the hallway.
A beautiful little door out in the hallway.
The Parliament tour included a free river tour and although we had already spent two weeks on the river already we went anyway.
We got a nice view of this church.
Looking at the Pest side under the bridge to Margit Island.
Another view from the river.
This is the Ruda spa which was also recommended to us but we didn't go..
Passing this building on the way home. It is very large and beautiful and contains a market which was not open.
The Gellert hotel and spa.
We had supper along the walk back to the hotel and realizing we were both more tired than we thought, we decided to call it a day.
